Tower Grove Park renovation includes gender-inclusive restrooms

We’re excited to present the newly-renovated Stupp Center! Using a combination of a generous gift from the Spoehrer Family Charitable Trust and city-funded sales tax revenue, Tower Grove Park has renovated the Stupp Center to include gender-inclusive restrooms and a catering kitchen for private events.

At the corner of Arsenal St. and S. Grand Blvd., the Stupp Center is the newest building addition to Tower Grove Park. Originally designed in 1981 to mirror the Park’s famous pavilions, the Stupp Center regularly offers recreational, educational and social activities. The large outdoor amphitheater and garden is also a popular location for weddings and other events. In 2017, the Park refurbished the octagonal room and adjacent lounge in the building as the first phase of renovation.

The second phase of renovation includes shared sinks for men and women with individual, ADA-accessible “rooms” (full-height walls and doors) containing toilet facilities. The restrooms are the first gender-inclusive facilities in the Park. Keeping true to the Park’s core values, the Park will be a leader in providing a welcoming, gender-inclusive environment for park visitors.

“We will continue to make Tower Grove Park welcoming for everyone. The new restrooms will provide inclusivity and accessibility for park users,” said William Reininger, Executive Director.

Also included are updates to the catering kitchen, which will include warming equipment to allow better professional catering for weddings and private events.

The finishes in the restrooms and kitchen are intended to be higher-end hospitality to support more rentals of the facility, including weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate events, family reunions and similar type functions. Just like the Park’s other popular venue, the Piper Palm House, the Stupp Center can be rented as an indoor option for many special events.

All details to rent the Stupp Center are available online.
