Friday, July 22: St. Louis Taiko Drummers
Can you hear and feel the beat of the drums? St. Louis Osuwa Taiko is a community-driven ensemble that celebrates the Japanese art of taiko through education and performance. So, what is taiko? Taiko means “big, fat drum” in Japanese and is steeped in a rich history of tradition. Taiko has been played in Japan for more than 1,400 years at religious ceremonies and festivals. Your little tike-o is sure to be entranced in this awe-inspiring performance.
Performances will run from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the Stupp Center Amphitheater (3616 Southeast Dr., St. Louis MO 63116). Gates will open at 9:30 a.m.
This program is generously supported by the Norman J. Stupp Foundation – Commerce Trust Trustee.
