Six-Week-Long Earn-A-Bike Course in Tower Grove Park

About this event

BWorks Earn-A-Bike is a free, hands-on class that teaches basic bicycle maintenance and safety — while fostering important life skills including communication, teamwork and responsibility — to children ages 8-17 who can already ride a bike. After completing a consecutive series of six (two-hour) classes, participants earn a refurbished bicycle and brand-new helmet, light set and lock.

Students who commit to this series will meet for six Thursday evenings in a row in Tower Grove Park, beginning each week at 6 p.m. (with each class ending at 8 p.m.) at the Roman Pavilion (location here).

The first class meeting is Thursday, August 11, and graduation day (the final class, which includes a graduation ride on the students’ newly earned bikes!) will be Thursday, September 15. Students must attend all six consecutive classes to earn their bike.

Requirements for this course:

1) To participate in this class, students must already be able to ride a bicycle comfortably on their own — without assistance or training wheels. (We regularly offer a separate course for students ages 8-17 who do not yet know how to ride a bike, called Learn-To-Ride. If your child cannot yet ride, please reach out to evie@bworks.org so she can get you on our waitlist for that other course rather than this one.)

2) A parent/guardian must attend the first 20 minutes of the first of the six classes. We also limit each family to two registrants per session, and students must be between the ages of 8-17.

Special thanks to the Tower Grove Park team for its support in helping us bring BWorks' bike classes to this cherished park for the first time!
