An Introduction to the World of Honey Bees with Eugene Makovec

Over the coming winter, Tower Grove Park’s beehives that are currently located in a behind-the-scenes area of the Park will be relocated to the newly updated West Gatehouse where they’ll become another facet of the Park’s environmental and education programs.

In preparation for this exciting new Park feature, we’ve invited Eugene Makovec, a third-generation beekeeper, and Editor of the American Bee Journal to deliver a talk on the fundamental biology of honeybees and their significance in our culture, economy, and environment.

About Speaker

Eugene Makovec is a third-generation beekeeper with an impressive 28 years of experience. He is currently the Editor of the American Bee Journal and serves as the President of Three Rivers Beekeepers in St. Charles County, and has been recognized as Missouri Beekeeper of the Year twice.
