Due to expected cloud cover and precipitation, Stargazing has been canceled. Night Hikes are still being offered for those that have registered, with extremely limited walk-up space available as capacity allows. There is a strict 25-person limit per walk, and most spaces are full with pre-registrants.
Calling all amateur astronomers young and old! Join us on the West End of the Park April - October for monthly stargazing and telescope viewings provided by St. Louis Astronomical Society. Find us after sunset in the field between the Stone Shelter and West End Picnic Site. Several telescopes will be available for you to look at whatever is visible - the moon, planets and stars! Feel free to bring your own equipment as well. This family-friendly event is ideal for anyone interested in learning about our solar system.
Street parking is available along Northwest and Southwest Drive, and restrooms are available at the West End Picnic Site. This event is weather-contingent, so please check back for updates.
Registration is NOT required to attend Stargazing. It is only requested for Night Hikes.
Night Hikes
NEW! For this date (Saturday, June 24) we are offering free Night Hikes, led by a Naturalist from the Missouri Department of Conservation. We’ll wander through the West End of the park to search for night critters that call Tower Grove Park home. We’ll listen for owls, look for eyeshine, and see moths and more in the dark. Walks are 20-30 minutes long and we request advance registration. Expect tour departures around 8:00pm and 8:30pm, meeting at the New Comfort Station, 4501 Southwest Dr, St. Louis, MO 63110.
Tours are limited to 25 people, so advance registration is strongly encouraged. Walk-up space is only available if spots are not taken, or for no-shows.
