Chakra Healing Yin Yoga Workshop

  • Roman Pavilion 4378 Northwest Drive St. Louis, MO, 63110 United States (map)

Chakra Healing Yin Yoga
This 7-week introductory Chakra Healing Yin Yoga experience will include deep stretching in order to open up the 7 Chakras and relieve tension in the fascia coupled with affirmations and healing frequencies. Each week we will be working through a different chakra during this 7-week long series. Recommended reading: Chakra Healing by Margaret Alcantara.

You can expect to experience a slow paced, accessible, and restorative class accompanied by the beautiful acoustics of the Roman Pavilion surrounded by the trees of Tower Grove Park. We will be exploring the different essential oils, crystals, yoga asanas, breathwork & meditations that correspond to each chakra in order to clear out any blockages, open up the chakras and allow our life force energy (chi, prana) to flow balanced throughout our body.

Class will be held from 6:00-7:00pm on Thursdays throughout the spring-fall & will include a brief introduction, intention setting, breathwork, yoga, and meditation/silent reflection. We recommend attending the full weekly series, but drop-ins will be welcome.

NOTE: Class may be canceled due to inclement weather. Check this page for updates.

Note: you may drop-in at any time, but we will begin a new 7-week session on these dates.

Why Yin Yoga?

Sometimes emotional trauma or stressors can result in physical symptoms because the memory of the trauma is stored in the fascia. Fascia is a connective tissue made up of primarily collagen that forms a matrix throughout your body and helps to support overall structure, stabilize and to aid in movement. Fascia can harden and become dehydrated also as a result of emotional trauma and the body's response to extreme stress. This can lead to symptoms such as headaches, back pain, neck pain, numbness and tingling and overall imbalance & dysfunction.

Restorative practices such as Yin Yoga, Qigong & somatic exercises can help slowly stretch and open up the fascia and other connective tissues through the use of gravity and time. Both practices compliment each other by reducing cortisol and stress levels, promoting increased circulation and lymphatic drainage, and helping to release tension and trapped emotions in the fascia. Unlike higher intensity workouts such as vinyasa yoga or HIIT training, this is suitable for trauma-informed individuals.
