Love in the Park

As part of our sesquicentennial celebration in 2022, Tower Grove Park celebrated LOVE on June 12, 2022, at “Love in the Park.”

Individuals who got married, engaged, or have just been in love in Tower Grove Park joined in this free event between 12-4 p.m. at the Roman Pavilion.

Love in the Park included music, food, drinks, and vendors. A highlight of the event was a ceremonial vow renewal, for approximately 50 couples.

"The Chinese Pavilion holds a special place in my wife’s and my heart. It was where Katie and I talked for hours during one of our early dates and realized we wanted to pursue a relationship. It was where I proposed to Katie one summer evening nearly four years ago and where we brought our families and friends together to take wedding photos the following summer. And it’s where we plan to celebrate our son’s first birthday later this year. Thank you for providing such a beautiful oasis for making lovely memories and celebrating the joys in our life."

"My husband and I got married at the Piper Palm House in July of 2014. The beauty and intimacy of the Piper Palm House made the day perfect. We did our pictures on the grounds as well and one of my favorite pictures was taken in front of the fountain with the ruins in the background. We recreate that photo every year for our anniversary. We've added 2 kids since then and seeing the changes every year is amazing. It's a treasured memory and the park always has a special place in our hearts."

"The first time my now wife and I held hands was in Tower Grove Park in August 1997. It was so hot that day but we didn't care. We walked around the park so happy to be together and able to hold hands. Not sure why we felt safe, two women holding hands in 1997, but we did and only in TGP would we have felt that way. The next year on April 1 we had a picnic among the pines behind the bird sanctuary and I gave my wife a ring. We have spent so many wonderful moments in the park. And then, beyond our wildest hopes in late 2014 the City of St. Louis started issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples, and we planned our wedding for January 25, 2015. We rented a limo, had a small group of friends and went to Cypress Circle to say our vows. We had brunch at the Palm House and spent the day riding around bringing cake and champagne to friends and family all over St. Louis."
